The University's commitment to student development, academics, socialization, mentoring, global awareness, and community development is inherent in RISE and provides students with a comprehensive learning experience designed to facilitate their success.

The mission of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is: Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.

LLS is the world's largest voluntary health agency dedicated to blood cancer. Through the support of its volunteers, LLS funds lifesaving blood cancer research around the world and provides free information and support services.

With the help of major fundraising campaigns, including Team In Training, the world's largest endurance sports training program, and Light The Night Walk, LLS has awarded more than $750 million in research funding since the first funding in 1954.

When LLS was founded in 1949, a blood cancer diagnosis was almost always fatal. Thanks in part to innovative research funded by LLS, survival rates have doubled, tripled and even quadrupled for blood cancer patients.

LLS continues its work to help ensure that blood cancer patients live better, longer lives, with access to the care they need to survive and live.

Wellness is a lifelong process, and for college students, success in the classroom starts with living a healthy lifestyle outside the classroom.

With this in mind, the University of Pittsburgh has developed a special program called Healthy U that features unlimited opportunities and resources to help students maintain more than just optimal physical and emotional health.

Healthy U encompasses intellectual and social well-being as well as occupational, environmental, and spiritual health.
